All set for our Summer Conference

June 3, 2011

 Our Annual Summer Conference is next Wednesday and final preparations are now complete (I hope!) I look forward to seeing all our delegates and speakers and discussing social media strategies, with input from LSN, the National Apprenticeships Service and the DfE. We’ll also be looking at LinkedIn, barriers to social media in colleges and hearing from colleagues about how they are putting strategies together for their own colleges.

The programme includes:

Social media: band wagon or business driver? – Chris Glennie, Marketing Manager, Learning and Skills Network;
Selling apprenticeships through social media – Richard Mayou, National Apprenticeships Service;
Using LinkedIn to engage employers – Simon Connor, Director, femarketing;
Social Media strategy at the Department for Education – Darren Leafe, Head of Digital Communications Unit, Communications Group, DfE;
Common barriers to using social media and how to remove them – Simon England, Web Editor,DoncasterCollege;
Panel presentations and chaired discussion: Facebook, Apps and more. Colleagues from West Thames College, Bournville College and Westminster Kingsway College will outline aspects of their social media strategies and share their experiences.
