New research shows teenagers know little about post-16 options

October 7, 2011

Marketing and schools liaison staff have long known that some schools are very difficult to get into – indeed the thought takes me back to my very first days in college marketing and promotions nearly 20 years ago!

Now the AoC has commissioned research that shows many secondary school pupils are still woefully unaware of the full range of post-16 options open to them, and that some schools appear to be deliberately trying to keep their learners to themselves.

The research, carried out for Colleges’ Week, was done in Camden, where, for example, just 7% of year 10s could identify Apprenticeships as a post-GCSE qualification.
