Website development FE First Award, sponsored by FEmarketing

September 9, 2013

Your website is fundamental to the college’s marketing and communications mix. Requiring constant updating and development, websites also need to be attractive, informative, interactive and up-to-date.

This award is an opportunity for you to look at your website critically and to evaluate what it is achieving as part of your ongoing communications development. It is an award for website development as much as a design award: the website is judged as a marketing tool, which requires regular monitoring, analysis and updating in response to feedback and usage, and the entry should focus on a development project which has been undertaken to improve the college website.

Judges will be looking for innovation, clarity, ease and fluidity of navigation and most importantly, user-friendliness in the website itself. Criteria for success will also include understanding the target markets, the collection of marketing data, customer focus, opportunities for interaction and comprehensive evaluation.

Your submission should include information about why and how the website development was undertaken, how the website works with other elements of your communications strategy, what analysis is done of its effectiveness, how it has been developed in the light of feedback. It should include clear SMART objectives for the website development project and an analysis of how far these have been achieved. Screen grabs are useful to illustrate progress.

If you’ve redeveloped your website this year, why not enter it for the FE First Awards 2013 – more information on the website at www.m-network.org/information.asp. Closing date 26 September 2013.
